- Key New Space companies such as Rohde & Schwarz, Netmetrix, HALO Space and Open Cosmos will address the future of satellite connectivity, near space and the European space industry.
- This new industrial model is generating opportunities in sectors such as telecommunications, defence, transport, sustainability and emergency management.
- New Space & Solutions will hold its second edition from 14 to 17 April 2026 with two in-person days at the Cartuja Auditorium – managed by Yventu – and two virtual days.
The European space sector is undergoing a structural transformation. For decades, space activity was dominated by large agencies and institutional programmes. Today, however, the development of the so-called New Space is giving rise to a much broader and more dynamic industrial ecosystem, involving technology companies, connectivity operators, satellite manufacturers and new space infrastructure platforms.
This evolution will be one of the focal points of New Space & Solutions – “Where we tell you what New Space does for us”, whose second edition will once again put Seville on the map of space innovation. The meeting will bring together companies, organisations and experts representing different layers of this new value chain in the space sector in the Andalusian capital in a hybrid event from 14 to 17 April 2026, with two face-to-face days at the Cartuja Auditorium – managed by Yventu – located in Seville TechPark, on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 April, and two virtual days on Thursday 16 and Friday 17.
Among the participating companies are Rohde & Schwarz, Netmetrix, HALO Space and Open Cosmos, four examples of the role played by different actors within the new space economy.
Critical technologies for space communications
One of the pillars of the New Space ecosystem is the development of technologies that ensure reliable communications between satellites and users on the ground. Rohde & Schwarz, a company specialising in communication, test and measurement technologies, is a leader in this field.

Its solutions enable the simulation, verification and optimisation of the performance of satellite communication systems and non-terrestrial networks (NTNs), a key element in validating the operation of satellites and terminals operating in orbit.
Carlos García, sales engineer at Rohde & Schwarz, will participate in New Space & Solutions with a presentation entitled ‘From satellite to user: the propagation channel in NTN communications’, in which he will address the technical challenges associated with signal transmission in new space connectivity architectures.
Satellites and 5G: the new global connectivity
The convergence between space infrastructure and terrestrial networks is another major trend that is redefining the sector. Companies such as Netmetrix are working on the development of hybrid architectures that integrate satellites with 5G networks and future 6G networks.
This model makes it possible to expand telecommunications coverage on a global scale and overcome traditional limitations in remote areas or environments where terrestrial infrastructure is insufficient.
During the event, Pablo Álvarez, CEO of Netmetrix, will analyse the current state of integration of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites with 5G networks in his presentation ‘Satellites & 5G’, as well as the technical and operational aspects that must be taken into account to ensure their proper functioning.

Near space: a new industrial frontier
The development of New Space is also driving the emergence of new layers of aerospace infrastructure. One of these is the so-called ‘near space’, located between commercial aviation and orbital space.
This is the field in which HALO Space operates, a company that develops manned stratospheric flight platforms with applications in space tourism, scientific research and Earth observation.
HALO Space CEO Carlos Mira will participate in New Space & Solutions to share the company’s vision of the industrial potential of this new frontier in the space sector.
Democratising access to Space
The rapid growth of the New Space sector is transforming the way satellites are developed and operated. Companies such as Open Cosmos are helping to democratise access to space by enabling institutions, companies and governments to deploy satellite missions more quickly and affordably.
Through initiatives such as ConnectedCosmos and DataCosmos, satellites and space-derived data are becoming increasingly easy to access and use. ConnectedCosmos will create a network of satellites to provide secure global connectivity, while DataCosmos transforms satellite data into accessible and useful information for decision-making.
Together, these approaches are accelerating the adoption of space-based data services in applications such as Earth observation, environmental monitoring, infrastructure management, and connectivity.

A more diverse space ecosystem
The presence of these companies at New Space & Solutions 2026 reflects how the European space sector is evolving towards a much more diverse industrial ecosystem, bringing together satellite manufacturers, critical technology providers, connectivity operators and new infrastructure platforms in near space.
This new industrial model is redefining the space economy in Europe, generating opportunities in sectors such as telecommunications, defence, transport, sustainability and emergency management.
New Space & Solutions seeks to establish itself as a meeting point for companies, institutions and professionals who are driving this new phase of the space industry, in a context in which technological innovation and public-private collaboration will be key to the future of the sector.
All New Space & Solutions conferences will be available for viewing on demand through The Observatory, Medina Media Events’ digital platform, where each conference will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.
The second edition of New Space & Solutions is organised by Medina Media Events and supported by Seville City Council; the Regional Ministry of Universities, Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia; the Regional Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment; the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines, Canary Islands Aerospace Strategy (Government of the Canary Islands), Netmetrix, Sceye, Rohde & Schwarz, PCB Piezotronics, Pablo de Olavide University, CATEC, Isdefe, UARX, HALO Space, Kistler, Eurecat, DEKRA, Open Cosmos, Solar MEMS, B2Space, Quside, Systratec, Keplerkoord, Augusta Abogados, Bufete Mas y Calvet, LORTEK, Flux, Metadev, NDK, Alfalite, University of Malaga, EQA, the Polytechnic University of Valencia and Amplify, among others.
