- During World Space Week and within the framework of the Seville Space Forum, the CSIC Science Centre in Seville hosted the presentation of the second edition of New Space & Solutions.
- New Space & Solutions will be held from 14 to 17 April 2026 with two face-to-face days (Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 April) at the Cartuja Auditorium, in Seville TechPark, and another two virtual days (Thursday 16 and Friday 17 April).
- The presentation was attended by the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), Seville City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the Regional Ministry of Universities, Research and Innovation and the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines, the Andalusia Aerospace Business Cluster, Alter Technology, EUROAVIA and Seville TechPark.
As the regional and national epicentre of the aerospace sector and headquarters of the Spanish Space Agency (AEE) since 2024, Seville has established itself as a benchmark for an industry that in 2024 achieved a record turnover of €2,914 billion, representing an increase of 6.8% over the previous year. In the same year, exports from the aeronautical sector in Andalusia amounted to approximately €2,813 billion, 34% more than in 2023.
The figures confirm Andalusia as a true benchmark in the aerospace industry, with Seville playing a particularly important role, accounting for around 98% of the aerospace export turnover for the whole of Andalusia.
The Andalusian capital will once again host the event and become the epicentre of space for a week with the celebration of the second edition of New Space & Solutions. Coinciding with World Space Week and within the framework of the Seville Space Forum, the CSIC’s Casa de la Ciencia hosted the presentation of this event, “where we tell you what New Space does for us”, which will take place from 14 to 17 April 2026 at Seville TechPark, with two face-to-face days at the Cartuja Auditorium –managed by Yventu– on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 April; and another two virtual days on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 April.
Promoting innovation, collaboration and competitiveness in the aerospace sector
The presentation was led by María Medina, Managing Director of Medina Media Events, who highlighted “the importance of this event in continuing to promote innovation, collaboration and competitiveness in the aerospace sector from Seville and Andalusia“. The Managing Director of Medina Media Events also stressed that New Space & Solutions “was created with the aim of being a point of connection between industry, research and public administrations, and its second edition reinforces this commitment to Seville and to the future of space technology”.

Some of the main topics on the agenda for New Space & Solutions 2026 will be the Atlantic Constellation as an example of international cooperation; the promotion of STEM vocations, inspiring new generations with the help of active astronauts; and dialogue between government, universities and businesses, which is key to advancing innovation, employment and competitiveness, among other issues.
Seville is proving that it can lead the way in this future. With the headquarters of the Spanish Space Agency, the support of the City Council and the Regional Ministry of Universities of the Regional Government of Andalusia, together with projects such as ESA BIC Andalusia, the Aerospace District and the strength of its universities, companies and start-ups, the city is consolidating its position as a benchmark in southern Europe in the field of aerospace.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Seville, Álvaro Pimentel, and the Deputy Minister for Universities, Research and Innovation of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Lorena Garrido, who agreed on the strategic role that this type of event plays in the economic and technological development of the city and Andalusia. Pimentel highlighted “Seville’s leadership as an innovative city open to talent”, while Garrido emphasised the role of “universities and research centres in consolidating the Andalusian aerospace ecosystem”. “This industry not only influences Andalusia’s GDP, but also drives innovation, skilled employment and enhances the value of our region,” said the Deputy Minister.

New Space & Solutions 2026 will feature the participation of the main space agencies, with a central role for the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), whose headquarters in Seville symbolise national leadership in space policy. Gonzalo Garrachón, Area Coordinator of the Technical Office of the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), said that “the location of Seville for events such as New Space & Solutions is no coincidence, because the city has an industry that gives meaning to the development of the space sector”. “The Spanish Space Agency provides support to this industry in legal, technical and financial areas, but also to the public. Bringing space closer to the public is something we consider very important.”

For his part, Juan Román, Managing Director of the Andalucía Aerospace Business Cluster, highlighted “Seville, a benchmark city at national and European level” and the importance of implementing new projects such as ESA BIC Andalucía, which will offer “a huge opportunity for the city, the region and the more than 20 companies in this cluster with a large volume of business in space, some of which are 100% dedicated to this sector”.

From Seville to Space: innovation, present and future
During the presentation ceremony, a round table discussion was also held with the participation of Fernando Mañes, Vice-President of the CVA Community of Ariane Cities of Seville City Council; Esperanza Caro, Technical Advisor to the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Regional Government of Andalusia; Guillermo Largaespada, Sales Manager at Alter Technology; and Ángeles Fuentes, 2024-2025 President of EUROAVIA (European Association of Aerospace Students), who discussed the current challenges, innovation and future prospects of the aerospace industry in Seville.
The conversation highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration and the key role of the region in the development of emerging space technologies, as well as the need for and commitment to young talent.
“We want to continue positioning Seville as a benchmark in the aerospace sector. Our challenge is to make the public aware that the space sector affects us in everyday matters,” said Fernando Mañes, while Esperanza Caro stressed that “the space sector is the lever for industrial transformation in Andalusia and we must take advantage of it“.
Guillermo Largaespada indicated that “we have to know how to use the tools we have, but also convince young people that working in this sector has a great future in Seville.” This line of thinking was defended by Ángeles Fuentes, who pointed out that “the space sector arouses passion and students come to their studies highly motivated. Feeling that your work serves the public in their daily lives is something that is very motivating.”
A first edition with a significant impact
New Space & Solutions will once again bring together leaders from the aerospace, technology and satellite sectors at Sevilla TechPark after a first edition that generated significant media impact with a valuation of €3,284,405 and 500 million impressions, according to the company Onclusive (formerly Kantar Media). The event will once again bring together leading companies and speakers from this industry, start-ups, institutions and high-level professionals to address the challenges, opportunities, solutions and everything that can help us in our daily lives in the so-called ‘New Space’.
