  • The university’s rector, Francisco Oliva Blázquez, will take part in two sessions of the programme, giving a presentation on the opening day, Tuesday 14 April, and participating in the virtual sessions, where he will discuss the role of Pablo de Olavide University as a strategic partner in driving the space industry forward.
  • New Space & Solutions – “Where we tell you what New Space does for us” will take place from 14 to 17 April 2026 in Seville, combining two in-person sessions at the Cartuja Auditorium – managed by Yventu – at Seville TechPark, with two further sessions in a virtual format.

The role of universities as a driving force for innovation, talent development and knowledge transfer will be one of the key themes at the second edition of New Space & Solutions, which will feature the participation of Pablo de Olavide University as one of the leading academic and scientific institutions in the aerospace sector.

New Space & Solutions – “Where we tell you what New Space does for us”, to be held in Seville from 14 to 17 April in a hybrid format – two in-person sessions at the Cartuja Auditorium, at Sevilla TechPark, and two virtual sessions—will bring together institutions, companies and knowledge centres to analyse the challenges and opportunities of the new space economy, in which the university sector plays an increasingly strategic role.

One of the main speakers will be the university’s rector, Francisco Oliva Blázquez, who will play a dual role at the event. During the opening session, he will deliver the presentation ‘The UPO as a multidisciplinary strategic ally in the New Space sector’, in which he will highlight the institution’s capacity to contribute to the sector’s development across various fields of knowledge.

Furthermore, his participation will extend to the virtual format, where he will address the role of universities as drivers of the New Space ecosystem, highlighting in particular the contribution of Pablo de Olavide University to the promotion of the aerospace industry, combining knowledge, innovation, talent and training at the service of the sector. In this context, the institution’s research capacity will be highlighted, having secured over 50 million euros in European funding, as well as its integration into European networks of excellence, consolidating its position as a key player in the sector’s transformation.

Pablo de Olavide University’s presence will be complemented by its participation in the event’s exhibition area, where it will showcase its potential as a multidisciplinary strategic player in the aerospace sector. The UPO’s presence at this forum will aim to strengthen links with companies, institutions and professionals in the sector through meetings, presentations and activities focused on research, innovation and training.

During the event, the University will showcase part of its research capacity in areas such as the applications of robotics technology in the aerospace sector, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, the expanding field of photovoltaics, innovation districts in the Seville metropolitan area linked to the aerospace sector, and arbitration in the fields of aviation, space and defence.

The UPO will also use this opportunity to present the new Multidisciplinary Centre for Applied Disruptive Technologies (CEMTEDA), as well as the Chair in Aerospace, which promotes a holistic view of the space industry. The University will also showcase its international reach through the European EPICUR alliance and highlight its educational offering, with a particular focus on current and future degree programmes at the Higher Polytechnic School, collaboration with businesses, dual training and UPO micro-credentials.

Against a backdrop of growth in the space sector, the involvement of universities such as Pablo de Olavide University is key to fostering talent, research and knowledge transfer, helping to strengthen an ecosystem that is increasingly competitive, innovative and internationally connected.

With this participation, New Space & Solutions 2026 reaffirms its commitment to fostering links between academia, industry and institutions, establishing Seville as a strategic hub for the development of the space sector.
