- NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are 400 kilometres from Earth and from there they will share their experience and give first-person accounts of living and working aboard the International Space Station while completing a long-duration mission. It may be his last public connection before returning to Earth
- This connection will be the last time the two astronauts will make a public communication before leaving the International Space Station and they will be able to give details of how and when their imminent return to Earth will take place
- NASA has moved the plan to send Crew-10, the tenth crew rotation on the ISS, on 12 March from Florida and a few days later, after completing the handover, to begin the return of Crew-9, with astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams on board
- From 17 to 21 March 2025, the Cartuja Auditorium in Seville will host the first edition of ‘New Space & Solutions’, a pioneering event bringing together the space and satellite industries to discuss their contributions to solving global challenges
Suni Williams, space station commander, and Butch Wilmore, flight engineer, are completing a long duration mission as part of Expedition 72 following their arrival on Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft in June. The duo will return to Earth in March with NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov as part of the agency’s SpaceX Crew-9 mission.
Interview with Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore
‘New Space & Solutions’ will have the privilege of an interview with Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore during the first edition of the event “where we communicate what New Space does for citizens”. This will be held on the opening day, March 17, of this event, which will run until March 21, with two face-to-face sessions at the Cartuja Auditorium in Seville —managed by Yventu— and three virtual sessions.
Williams and Wilmore will recount their experiences living in space for nearly eight months, while contributing to hundreds of hours of science, research, and investigations aboard the microgravity laboratory. A long-awaited connection, as it will be the last time the two astronauts will make a public communication before leaving the International Space Station. In this talk with ‘New Space & Solutions’ they will be able to give details of how and when their imminent return to Earth will take place, as well as all their work during the eight months of their mission.
NASA has already made public the plan to send Crew-10, the tenth rotation of crew members on the ISS, on 12 March from Florida and a few days later, after completing the handover work, to undertake the return of Crew-9, with astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams on board.
New Space & Solutions will transform Seville into the space capital for a week and aims. The event aims to highlight how space helps and will help to solve the problems of citizens, in cities, rural areas, services, travel, companies and businesses.
Celebrating 25 Years of Human Occupancy
The International Space Station, an orbiting laboratory that has driven scientific and technological advances since its launch in 1998, will celebrate 25 years of continuously being occupied by humans this November.
History will remember the legacy of this space laboratory, which has not only been a symbol of international cooperation, but also a key source of innovation and technological advances for humanity’s problems. The knowledge gained on the station will continue to benefit society and pave the way for future missions beyond Earth orbit as space exploration progresses.
The agenda for ‘New Space & Solutions’ in Seville includes two in-person sessions (Monday, March 17, and Tuesday, March 18) at the Cartuja Auditorium —managed by Yventu— and three virtual sessions (Wednesday, March 19, Thursday, March 20, and Friday, March 21).
All presentations will be available for on-demand viewing via The Observatory, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where each conference will be available 24 hours 365 days a year for free.
The first edition of ‘New Space & Solutions’ is organised by Medina Media Events with the collaboration of the Seville City Council and the Junta de Andalucía and has the support of Rohde & Schwarz, ALTER, Ansys, Arkadia Space, Augusta Abogados, CT Ingenieros, DEKRA, Integrasys, Parsec, Proexca (Government of the Canary Islands), Space-Aero, Universidad Loyola Andalucía, CEU Universidad Fernando III, among others.
