On Wednesday 18 February, the Seville Space Forum hosted the presentation of the second edition of New Space & Solutions – “Where we tell you what New Space does for us”, an event that will once again position Seville as a strategic hub for the space ecosystem in southern Europe. The presentation was given by Carlos Millán, commercial director of Medina Media Events, who explained that the event will be held from 14 to 17 April 2026 at the Cartuja Auditorium – managed by Yventu – in Seville TechPark.

During the presentation, the Director General of Economic Promotion, Business Parks and Science of Seville City Council, Antonio Villegas, stressed that Seville is already “the Spanish city with the highest concentration of space-related activities” and stated that “Seville is beginning to become what we want it to be: Seville, Spanish City of Space“.

During the event, attended by Álvaro Pimentel, Deputy Mayor and Delegate for Cartuja, Innovative Parks, Employment, Economy, Trade and Consumption of the Seville City Council, it was announced that the city will host a round table discussion at New Space & Solutions 2026 entitled ‘Seville and Rome in the Ariane Community of Cities: boosting the local economy through the space sector’, focusing on Seville’s strategic positioning as a space capital. The City of Rome will be represented alongside Seville City Council, and the role of both cities within the Communauté des Villes Ariane (CVA), a European network of cities linked to the space industry and the Ariane and Vega programmes, will be analysed. Gael Walter, a professional involved in European space policy, will also participate, reinforcing the international and strategic nature of the debate.

María Medina, managing director of Medina Media Events and presenter of the event, will interview Álvaro Pimentel to discuss the space projects promoted by the city and their impact on the European stage.

For her part, Silvia de los Santos, Technical Director of Seville Spanish Space Capital, stated during the presentation that “we will continue to promote initiatives to consolidate Seville as an industrial hub in southern Europe”. Along the same lines, Josechu Ferreras, coordinator of the Space Forum, highlighted the impact of World Space Week on the city, noting that it has helped to generate the “space atmosphere” necessary to promote skilled employment, knowledge transfer and citizen-oriented technological solutions. Alicia Domínguez, head of the Business Promotion Section of Seville City Council, also spoke, emphasising the international and strategic nature of the initiatives linked to the Space Forum and New Space & Solutions, reinforcing Seville’s position as a key hub for the aerospace sector in southern Europe.

The meeting will take place over two days in person, on 14 and 15 April, and two days virtually, on 16 and 17 April, bringing together international experts to analyse the solutions that are defining the future of the space sector.

Following a first edition that featured prominent figures such as the director of the Spanish Space Agency, Juan Carlos Cortés, European Space Agency astronaut Pablo Álvarez, NASA commander and astronaut Nichole Ayers —with a live connection from the International Space Station— and Axiom Space chief astronaut Michael López-Alegría, New Space & Solutions is preparing its second edition with twice as many sponsors, more than 30, and more than 70 participating entities, including space agencies, large corporations, technology SMEs, universities and specialised clusters, with registrations expected to exceed 300 companies and 600 professionals.

In a context in which space has established itself as critical strategic infrastructure, with European investment exceeding €14 billion per year, the event will bring together the entire value chain of the sector: manufacturers, satellite integrators and operators, software and data analysis companies, 5G/NTN connectivity solutions and technology start-ups. This convergence reinforces Seville’s position as a hub for the New Space debate in southern Europe.

The event also has the institutional backing of the Regional Ministry of Universities, Research and Innovation, the Regional Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines, and the Regional Ministry of Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy of the Regional Government of Andalusia, together with the participation of leading agencies and companies in the sector, consolidating Seville as a strategic benchmark for the European space economy.

All the conferences at New Space & Solutions will be available for viewing on demand through The Observatory, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where each conference will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.
