More than 60 national and international entities, including space agencies, institutions, organizations, associations, companies from the aerospace, satellite and technology industries and universities, will meet from March 17 to 21 in Seville to turn the city into the world capital of space. The first edition of ‘New Space & Solutions’ is finalizing preparations for an event that is set to become a benchmark for the aerospace and satellite sector. The event will bring together the main players in the industry to discuss the latest trends, innovations and opportunities in the field of ‘New Space’. A meeting “where it is communicated what the ‘New Space’ does for citizens”.
The Spanish Space Agency (AEE) will play a prominent role in the first edition of New Space & Solutions, consolidating Seville as an aerospace reference after the opening of its headquarters in the city in 2024. Juan Carlos Cortés, director of the AEE, will be Speaker of Honor on the opening day, where he will present the strategic vision and challenges of the space sector in Spain. Together with AEE, the Portuguese Space Agency (Portugal Space) will be represented by its president, Ricardo Conde, who will analyze the growth of the sector in Portugal and its integration in international programs.
The event will also bring together some of the world’s most influential space agencies. Dylan Mathis, Communications Officer for NASA’s Office of External Affairs, will address the transition of the International Space Station to a commercial low Earth orbit (LEO) model. In addition, New Space & Solutions will feature a live connection with astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who will share their experience from the International Space Station. The European Space Agency (ESA) will be represented by Sergio Tabasco, Head of Industrial Policy, while the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will be represented by Chiharu Hoshino, Deputy Director at the Paris Office. Finally, Teodoro Valente, President of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), will present Italy’s key role in the development of space missions and satellite technologies. With the participation of these institutions, New Space & Solutions consolidates itself as a reference forum in the aerospace ecosystem, promoting international collaboration and innovation in the industry.

In addition, New Space & Solutions will be attended by institutional representatives from the Seville City Council, as well as from various ministries of the Regional Government of Andalusia: University, Science and Innovation; Industry, Energy and Mines; and Sustainability, Environment and Blue Economy. The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) will also be present. At the European level, the event will bring together prestigious institutions such as the European Commission (EC), the European Union Space Programme Agency (EUSPA), the Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies (NEREUS) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Companies and institutions at the highest level
The Government of the Canary Islands, together with the Fuerteventura Technology Park and Proexca, plays a very important role in this first edition of ‘New Space & Solutions’. Eduardo Pereira, manager of the Technological Park of Fuerteventura, will talk about the strategy and support that the insular executive has been implementing the PTFSA in the islands, as well as the projects that are being carried out in the archipelago.
The Canary Islands have a combination of advantages to become a hub for the aerospace industry, being the Spanish territory with the largest airspace and a long tradition in space observation. Besides being a border territory of Europe – Africa, it has an advantageous economic and fiscal regime that makes companies more competitive, as well as the academic ecosystem and the talent that is being developed.
Challenges and solutions within the ‘New Space’.
Gilles Lebiez, Managing Director for the Aerospace & Defense markets at Ansys and Head of Business Development in EMEA, will speak on his extensive experience in the area of numerical simulation and digital engineering, especially in the aerospace and defense industry, and simulation solutions for the ‘New Space’. David Rodriguez-Laurentie, Channel & Account Manager Aerospace & Defense at Rohde & Schwarz, will address non-terrestrial network technologies and the challenges inherent in satellite communication.
Eva Diaz, Business Development Manager at Alter Technology, will discuss how the use of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf), i.e. standard commercial off-the-shelf components already available on the market, together with the advanced capabilities of the Space Test Centre, are driving the evolution of New Space. These components enable cost reduction and accelerate the development of new space technologies without the need to design specific elements from scratch. For his part, Alberto Parada, Head of Industry, Defense and Aerospace Sales at DEKRA, will share the company’s capabilities in the aerospace sector and explain how MIL-STD-461-based testing can ensure the quality and safety of devices.
Space at the service of citizens
One of the main themes of ‘New Space & Solutions’ will be what ‘New Space’ can do to improve people’s lives. In this context, Jose Tórtola, co-founder and VP of Operations at PARSEC, will talk about the commercialization of access to Space, which could transform our future, unleashing unprecedented opportunities for medical breakthroughs, technological innovations and scientific discoveries that will reshape life on Earth.
The event will also be attended by Orbital EOS, a startup that uses satellite imagery and advanced artificial intelligence algorithms for emergency tasks. Its projects include a pioneering platform for the detection of oil spills for the oil and gas industry, maritime and port authorities, desalination plants and environmental authorities.
For his part, Alvaro Sanchez Garcia, CEO of Integrasys, will share how remote control and remote control allow a precise and safe operation of space observation systems, from task planning to real-time monitoring. Also participating in this event will be José Evelio Jiménez, regional director in Spain of CT Ingenieros, an international company with 1,500 engineers working in sectors such as aeronautics, naval, automotive and industrial, covering the entire life cycle of a product. In addition, David Sanjuán, commercial applications engineer at Kistler Ibérica, will address the new challenges in measurement for the space and aviation industry, highlighting how advanced sensor solutions are driving the adaptation of satellites and spacecraft to increasingly demanding environments.
New Space and its legal context
Experts in legal advice for the aerospace industry will provide their vision on the regulatory framework in the new space age. Sergi Giménez Binder, lawyer specialized in aerospace law and partner of Augusta Abogados, will analyze the impact of the Space Protocol of the Cape Town Convention on the financing of space projects, assessing its viability and the challenges it poses for operators, investors and financial institutions in the sector. Meanwhile, Guillermo Sagrario, president of SPACE-Aero Spain, will present the impulse that this non-profit association offers to its members for the continuous improvement of the Spanish aerospace supply chain.
Women who lead, inspire and drive the future of New Space
Women’s Day at New Space & Solutions is a day dedicated to highlighting the key role of women in aerospace and technological innovation. Through presentations and in-depth interviews, leaders and experts will share their trajectory, their perspectives on the evolution of New Space and its impact on the industry. We will count with the participation of references such as Cecilia Hernández and Ana María Marín (Spanish Space Agency), Gema Martín del Burgo and Irene Rivera (Ellas Vuelan Alto), Carmen Sillero (European Commission), Silvia de los Santos (CTA), Esperanza Caro (CIEM), Esperanza Caro (CIEM), Eva Villaver (IAC), Eva Vega (INTA), Lucía Fonseca de la Bella (University of Surrey), Mariló Torres (Analog Astronaut Community), Carmen García Roger, Margarita Chrysaki (NEREUS) and Ersilia Vaudo (ESA).
