- NASA astronaut and US commander Jessica Meir, alongside ESA French astronaut and mission specialist Sophie Adenot, will connect live with the Cartuja Auditorium in Seville from the International Space Station at a particularly significant moment for the space industry, as it will take place just a few days after the return to Earth of the Artemis II mission.
- New Space & Solutions – “Where we tell you what New Space does for us” will be held from 14 to 17 April 2026 in Seville, combining two in-person sessions at the Cartuja Auditorium – managed by Yventu – at Seville TechPark, with two further sessions in a virtual format.
The second edition of New Space & Solutions will feature one of its highlights with a live link-up with the International Space Station (ISS), bringing space exploration closer to the public in a unique format that will once again place Seville at the centre of the global dialogue on the future of space.
New Space & Solutions – “Where we tell you what New Space does for us” will take place from 14 to 17 April 2026 in Seville, combining two in-person sessions at the Cartuja Auditorium – managed by Yventu – at Sevilla TechPark, with two further sessions in a virtual format, and will bring together experts, institutions and companies to address the major challenges facing the space sector, with this connection being one of the most unique highlights of the programme.
During the opening day, Tuesday 14 April, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a live link-up with part of the crew of the International Space Station, which orbits some 400 kilometres from Earth. During this session, NASA astronaut and US commander Jessica Meir, alongside French ESA astronaut and mission specialist Sophie Adenot, will share their first-hand experiences on board, discussing both their daily life in microgravity and the challenges and advances in space research. In addition, an official from Seville City Council and representatives from various Andalusian organisations attending the event will join this unique conversation, asking questions live to the crew of the International Space Station.
As part of this conversation, New Space & Solutions will feature a particularly inspiring moment: Daniel Castro, a 14-year-old boy from Seville who is gifted and has had a deep passion for space exploration from a very young age, will have the opportunity to ask the astronauts several questions directly, becoming the first young person from Andalusia to engage in a live video conversation with astronauts in space, going beyond traditional radio communications. Daniel, who balances his secondary school studies with a course at Pablo de Olavide University, is also developing a research project on molecular simulation applied to nanomaterials for hydrogen purification. His ambition is to become an aerospace engineer and contribute to the development of propulsion systems based on green hydrogen that enable more sustainable aviation. This milestone represents a major step towards his dream of gaining first-hand insight into the space sector, even before his long-awaited visit to the NASA Space Center in Houston.

Jessica Meir and Sophie Adenot are part of Expedition 74 to the International Space Station, a mission that began in December 2025 and is scheduled to conclude in the summer of 2026. This conversation will offer a unique and intimate insight into the work currently being carried out in orbit, bringing the public closer to the reality of contemporary space exploration.
This session comes at a particularly significant time for the space industry, as it will take place just a few days after the return of the Artemis II mission, a milestone marking a new step forward on the path to returning humans to the Moon and reinforcing the global momentum of exploration programmes.
The link-up will build on the experience launched at the first edition of New Space & Solutions, which successfully brought space closer to the public through a live conversation with astronaut Nichole Ayers, who shared her first impressions from the station just hours after her arrival. At that time, in a dialogue with representatives of the Regional Government of Andalusia and Seville City Council, Ayers conveyed the excitement of her experience by stating: “I am fulfilling every little girl’s dream. I always dreamed of travelling to space and here I am”.
With this new connection, New Space & Solutions 2026 consolidates its commitment to bringing space exploration closer to society, offering a unique opportunity to interact in real time with those working in Earth’s orbit and reinforcing its position as one of the leading international forums in the space sector.
All the conferences from New Space & Solutions will be available to watch on-demand via The Observatory, the digital platform from Medina Media Events, where each conference will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.
