Where we communicate what New Space does for citizens
17 - 21 MARCH 2025

Canary Islands, European reference in aerospace innovation and unmanned aerial systems (UAS)

Monday March 10, 2025 | Evento

  • The Canary Islands will be present from March 17 to 21, 2025 at the Cartuja Auditorium in Seville, where the first edition of ‘New will be heldSpace & Solutions’ , a pioneering meeting in which the space and satellite industry will come together to jointly explain the solutions they provide to citizens
  • New Space & Solutions’ is an event that aims to communicate what ‘New means Space’ for citizens and that will turn Seville into the Space capital from March 17 to 21

The first edition of ‘New Space & Solutions’ will have a wide institutional representation, consolidating Spain’s position at the forefront of innovation. spaceIn this long list of institutions at international, national and regional level, the isGovernment of the Canary Islands, represented on this occasion by its Director General of Organizational Coordination and Strategic Projects, Mr. David Pérez-Dionis and counting, for this, with the support of PROEXCA (public agency to support the economic internationalization of the Canary Islands) and the Technological Park of Fuerteventura, coordinator and executor of the program of earth observation and communications Canarias Geo Innovation 2030, from which the initiative to participate in the event has departed.

Canary Islands Aerospace Strategy

The Canary Islands have a combination of advantages to become a hub for the aerospace industry, being the Spanish territory with the largest airspace and a long tradition in space observation. In addition to being a border territory between Europe and Africa, it has an advantageous economic and fiscal regime that makes companies more competitive, as well as the ecosystem academic and the talent that is being developed. All this in an archipelago that offers a diversity of possibilities to the New Space industry by virtue of the advantages offered by the different islands.

The Canary Islands will present in “New Space & Solutions” its progress in the development of its Aerospace Strategy and will show its capabilities to enable the development and deployment of projects and initiatives in the aerospace field.

Among them, the prestigious Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, a center of excellence in research that manages two of the most important observatories at international level and whose mission is to carry out and promote any type of astrophysical research, as well as to develop and transfer its technology; to disseminate astronomical knowledge, to collaborate in the specialized university teaching of astronomy and astrophysics, and to train and qualify scientific and technical personnel in all fields related to astrophysics; to administer the existing astronomical centers, observatories and facilities and those that will be created or incorporated into its administration in the future, as well as the dependencies at its service; and to foster relations with the community.national and international scientific

The Canary Islands will also present its new capabilities such as Canarias Stratoport for HAPS & UAS, www.stratoport.com, or the ISSEC Center (International Center for Emergencies, Safety, Security, Biodiversity and other missions), both on the island of Fuerteventura, publicly owned infrastructures that aim to become a European center for the innovation, integration, validation, simulation and operation of solutions and dual technologies through unmanned aerial systems (UAS, Unmanned Aerial Systems), both stratospheric (HAPS, High Altitude Pseudo-Satellites) and atmospheric (HALE, High Altitude and Long Endurance). This Center allows the efficient operation of multiplatform UAS systems, offering an innovative, sustainable and complementary alternative to traditional satellites, with advantages in terms of operational flexibility, cost reduction and lower impact.environmental

The ISSEC Center will receive data from on-board payloads, process Data Analytics and operate innovative solutions in the fields of emergency, security, defense, communications, dual technologies and biodiversity, among others.

These infrastructures and the development of strategic projects within the scope of the Canary Islands program Geo Innovation 2030 offer a unique opportunity for companies and entrepreneurs in the aerospace and fieldsUAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) .

The agenda of ‘New Space & Solutions’ in Seville includes two face-to-face sessions (Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18) at the Cartuja Auditorium -managed by Yventu- and three virtual sessions (Wednesday, 19, ThursdayMarch , March 20 and Friday, March 21).

All presentations will be available for on-demand viewing through El Observatorio, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where each intervention will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.
